PRIVACY POLICY

We are a family-run hospitality business in Ainslie, Canberra. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can get in touch about it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

  • Bookings and enquiries. Your name, email address, phone number, booking date and time, party size, and any notes you give us (for example dietary requirements or the occasion). Function, wedding and private dining enquiries also include your event details.
  • Ordering at the table. When you order or pay through the QR code menu, we receive your name, email, phone number and what you ordered.
  • Birthday club, competitions and sign-ups. Your name, email, phone number and date of birth if you give it to us.
  • Gift vouchers. The buyer's and recipient's names and email addresses.
  • Job applications. Your name, contact details, resume and anything else you send us.
  • Website use. Standard analytics such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location, collected through cookies and similar tools.
  • Email and SMS activity. Whether our messages were delivered, opened or clicked.
  • CCTV. Our venues use security cameras for safety.

Why we use it

  • To take and manage your booking, order or enquiry, and to contact you about it.
  • To run our venues safely and meet our legal obligations, including responsible service of alcohol and food safety.
  • To send you news, offers and invitations from our venues, if you have opted in. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, by replying STOP to an SMS, or by contacting us.
  • To ask for feedback after a visit.
  • To show you our advertising on platforms such as Google and Meta, and to find audiences similar to our customers. We only use contact details of people who have opted in to marketing, and we never use dietary or health information for advertising.
  • To understand how our venues and website are used so we can improve them.

Who we share it with

We share personal information with service providers who help us run the business, only for that purpose:

  • Booking and ordering systems (me&u, including Tables and Connect)
  • Email and SMS services
  • Payment and delivery providers (for example gift voucher, delivery and point of sale providers)
  • Advertising platforms, such as Google and Meta, to deliver and measure our advertising to opted-in customers
  • Website hosting, analytics and content systems
  • Accounting, payroll and professional advisers
  • Recruitment and rostering tools, for job applicants and staff

We do not sell your personal information. Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to police or a regulator.

Direct marketing

We only send marketing to people who have opted in, for example by joining the birthday club, signing up when ordering, or ticking a box when booking. Every email carries an unsubscribe link and every SMS accepts STOP. Opting out stops marketing; we may still need to contact you about a booking or order.

How long we keep it

We keep booking and transaction records for as long as we need them for the business and for tax and legal purposes, usually seven years. Marketing contact details are kept until you opt out or the list is cleaned. Job applications are kept for up to twelve months unless you ask us to remove them sooner.

Security

Personal information is held in the systems above, protected by passwords, access controls and the providers' own security. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the regulator if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are able to. Email us at info@edgarsinn.com.au or write to 1 Edgar Street, Ainslie ACT 2602. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not happy with how we handle a complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
